Fan Stitch Beanie
This pattern is easily adjustable for infant through adult sizes. Just change the size of yarn and hook and presto!! And of course, hook size will also depend on how tightly you crochet. If you crochet very loose you will need to size down your hook.
Materials:
Yarn 100 - 125 yards: (worsted weight (medium/4) for adult of child size, sport or fingering (light/3) for infant size)
Crochet Hook I (5.5mm) for adult size, G (4.0mm) for child size, E (3.5mm)for infant size)
Stitches used:
Sl st: Slip Stitch
Ch: chain
Sc: single crochet
Hdc: half double crochet
Dc: double crochet
Fpdc: front post double crochet: (working from the front) yarn over, insert hook around bar of next double crochet, yarn over, draw up a loop, (yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.
Rnd 1: Ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Sl st in top of beg ch 4 to join (12 sts).
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in ea st around. Sl st in top of fist hdc to join (24 hdc).
Rnd 3: Ch 1, [2 hdc in next st, hdc next st] around. Sl st in top of first hdc to join (36 hdc).
Rnd 4: Ch 1, [2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts] around. Sl st in top of first hdc to join (48 hdc).
Rnd 5: (Ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in first st. *Skip next 2 sts, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st in top of beg ch 3 to join. (16 fan sts).
Rnds 6-10: Sl st into next ch 1 sp. (Ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch 1 sp. (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in each ch 1 sp around. Sl st in top of beg ch 3 to join. (16 fan sts).
Rnd 11: Sl st into next ch 1 sp. (Ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp. 4 dc in each ch sp around. Sl st in top of beg ch 3 to join. (64 dc).
Rnd 12: Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Sl st in top of first hdc to join.(64 hdc).
Rnd 13: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Sl st in top of beg ch 3 to join. (64 dc).
Rnd 14: Ch 1, [sc in next st, fpdc in next st] around. Sl st in first sc to join.(32 sc, 32 fpdc).
Rnd 15: Sl st LOOSELY in ea st around. Finish off. Leave long end to weave in.
