SAVANNAH BEANIE


I designed this beanie several years ago and have made more of them than I can count. Every time I look for the pattern I think of my sweet niece Savannah who has told me this is one of her favorites!!! I have made it with a larger hook to get a slouchy effect, or a smaller hook so that it fits snugly to the head (see pic at bottom of page).

Savannah Beanie


Materials:
size I crochet hook (use a G hook for a snug fitting beanie)
4 oz worsted weight yarn
darning needle

Size: large (can be made smaller by eliminating increase rounds and shortening the length)

Gauge: 6 dc = 2", 4 dc rows = 2"

Rnd 1: ch 4, dc in 4th ch from hook 11 times, sl st in top of beg ch 4 to join.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, dc in first st, fpdc around same st. [Dc in next st, fpdc around same st] around. Sl st in first dc to join.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, dc in first st. Dc in next, fpdc around same st. [Dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around 2nd st] around. Sl st in first dc to join.
Rnd 4: Ch 2, dc in first st. Dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around 2nd st. [Dc in next 3 sts, fpdc around 3rd st] around. Sl st in first dc  to join.
Rnd 5: ch 2, dc in first st. Dc in next st, fpdc around same st. [Dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around 2nd st] around. Sl st in first dc to join.
Rnd 6: Ch 2, dc in first st, dc in next st, fpdc around next st. [Dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around next st] around. Sl st in first dc to join.
Repeat Rnd 6 until hat measures 8 ½” from beginning.
Next Rnd: Ch 2, [dc dec over 2 sts, fpdc around next st. Dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around next st] around. Sl st in first dc to join.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in first 2 sts. [Sc dec over next 2 sts *, sc in next 3 sts] around ending at *. Sc in last st. Sl st in first sc to join.
Last Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Sl st in first sc to join. Finish off.
