Crochet AND Knit Dishcloth Patterns - The Perfect Housewarming Gift!!

When my husband and I bought our first house a good friend brought us the most wonderful and MOST USED gift we had ever received.  It was a large basket filled with tea towels, dish cloths, home made muffins and a sweet little plaque!!  I can truly say that EVERY part of that basket was used or consumed and did not just get stuck in a re-gift closet!!  And this is why it is soooo hard when  you want to bless someone with a gift for fear it will not be used.  I'm going to tell you how I put together a small and usable housewarming gift basket for about $10 and an evening or two of stitching.

First of all you can spend TONS getting a cute basket....but did you know that the Dollar Tree actually has LOADS of cute small baskets AND they are only $1.

It did take a trip to Hobby Lobby and the gas is not included in my total cost, but maybe you have something in your stash you could use up.  I spent about $5.50 and purchased two coordinating cotton yarns. Then I went home and stitched up 6 lovely dishcloths (patterns below), rolled them and tied them up with a simple chain of crochet (but I think jute would look nice too!) Who DOESN'T need some new dishcloths when they move!

Folded, stacked and tied up would make a pretty
stand alone gift!!  I thought the rolled ones looked
better in the basket :D
Then, browse your cupboards and see if you have something to make some muffins with.  Or maybe you are not a baker, so you could go to the local bakery and pick up some fresh baked muffins or sweet bread (I was able to make the muffins with what I had on hand, therefore making the cost less expensive).  Who DOESN'T need a snack when they have just moved into a new home! I chose to make chocolate chip muffins because the yarn I chose kept reminding me of smores and chocolate chips!!  LOL  Of course, if you bake something it is always a nice gesture to include the recipe handwritten on a card (or printed out if you prefer).

Then I thought about what else might go with those muffins.  I chose a bottle of my favorite creamer (since this is a sample basket I chose what I liked, but normally you would try to choose something the recipient likes). If you still have room in your basket you could add some small kitchen gadgets (chip clips, magnets, etc).

Such a simple gesture and just a little bit of time and money, you will surely bless someone with this gift.

Be Blessed!!
