Proverbs 16:3......Inspiration for the Stitcher

Proverbs 16:3

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish
 your plans.

So let me get this straight.....if I tell God that I'm doing this for HIM...it's all gonna work out fine???

Well.....not exactly. Let's take a look at the verse that comes BEFORE!!

Proverbs 16:2
All a person's ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the LORD.

You see....God is looking at my heart. So as a Christian I must ask myself......am I making this new afghan for my own personal FAME and GLORY??? Do I CARE about my customers or am I just trying to make a buck off of them.  I know that God is not against me making a living and selling my needlework.  Or making money teaching or blogging.  But when I commit my plans to HIM.....I must step aside and allow HIM be glorified in it first.

Be Blessed!!!

  1. That is one of my two favorite verses in the Bible. My go to verses.
Matthew 6:33 "Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you", not promising that a person will be rich and famous, but that God sees that she is putting Him first and he will honor her work. Your life as a Christian woman has been about putting God first in your life, your family, friends and the work of your hands. You have always placed your talents at His feet, and you always do beautiful work. I may have taught you the basics, but you have gone far and beyond any thing I have ever done with the stitching of my hands. God's hand have guided yours. I love you!

  3. Crocheting, as I see it, was my gift. I always wanted to work from home so I can stay with the boys. I wasn't gifted at anything crafty but when I was pregnant with my second son, I learned crochet. Keeping the focus on God is hard though - I find that it comes and goes for me.

    1. Keeping the focus on God is EXTREMELY hard sometimes!!! Especially when we get busy!! That's why I started the weekly Inspiration for the Stitcher. It makes ME stop and focus on God. Otherwise I would probably roll out of bed with my hooks in my hands and start crocheting like every other day. It is encouraging to me also that there are others out there that also struggle with keeping things God centered. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Sara!!!
