FIESTA DOILY RUG free Crochet Pattern
made with 1 one strand of Bernat Mega Bulky |
It took a few tries to get it just right. And the best thing is that the pattern is ONLY 19 rounds!! I started my last rug on a Saturday afternoon and finished it Sunday evening!! The sheer bulk of the yarn used will definitely cramp your hands if you are not used to working with this size hook and fiber. But the end results are GORGEOUS!!! Another great aspect of this pattern is that I have given you three different weights of yarn you can work with to get the same exact results just by changing the number of strands you are working with.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
SIZE: 44-46 inches Diameter
MATERIALS: There are several yarn options for making this
rug listed below. You will also need a size N/10.0 mm or 9.0 mm crochet hook
(the N hook comes in both sizes, so do not be confused) and a metal yarn needle
with a very large eye for weaving in your ends. To make the rug “skid proof” I
have used a “Kitchen, Bath & Plumbing premium siliconized sealant” to add
lines (grippy stuff) to the back. Once dried it will grip to your slick/hard
floor. Pic at the bottom of pattern.
1) Bernat
Mega Bulky Size 7/Jumbo, you will need approx. 97 ounces
2) Big Twist
Natural Blend Size 6/Super Bulky, you will need approx. 55 ounces worked double
stranded.
3) Any Size
4/Worsted Weight, you will need approx. 56 ounces of this weight, worked six
stranded. I found that it was a great way to work from my stash using leftover
yarn.

4 double crochet cluster: *yo, insert hook in ring, draw up a loop, yo, draw

NOTES:
1. Work your stitches tightly. You want a nice firm rug that will only come from tight stitches.
2. The rug WILL be slippery if you do not add some sort of grip to the back. Either the sealant I have listed in the materials section OR some sort of rug tape to keep it in place on your floor.
3. The first 5 rows of the rug may be slightly wavy. Do not worry, it should flatten out over rows 6 and 7.
