CRYSTAL ANGEL PATTERN

My Moma had made these angels with Battenburg lace wings (if I remember correctly), so I took the idea and made it my own! They are so simple to put together and make a lovely gift that looks much more expensive than what it is!! I used them as favors on my table at a recent Ladies Tea held at our chuch. They were a HIT!!
MATERIALS: size 10 crochet cotton thread, size 7 steel crochet hook (1.65 mm), small amount of commercial fabric stiffener, waxed paper, 3" long crystal prism (you can find these in the lighting section of your local hardware store), 1 pipe cleaner (I used metallic silver to go with my table theme), small amount of 1/8" and 1/4" ribbon, hot glue gun and glue sticks.
Starting in the center and working first wing:
Rnd 1: Ch 4, work 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Sl st in top of beg ch 4 to join.
Row 2: Ch 4, dc in same st as beg ch 4. (Dc, ch 1, dc) in next 2 sts.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn. (Dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in first sp. (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next 2 ch 1 sps.
Row 4: Turn, sl st into first ch 1 sp. (Ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp. (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next 2 ch 1 sps.
Row 5: Turn, sl st into first ch 2 sp. (Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp. (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next 2 ch 2 sps.
Row 6: Ch 1, turn. Sc in first st. *7 dc in next ch 2 sp, sk next 3 dc, sl st in sp, repeat from * 2 more times. Sc in last st. Finish off.
2nd wing:
Skip next 3 sts on Rnd 1 of center of wing, join thread with a sl st in next st. Continue working same as first wing.
ASSEMBLY:
Dip wings in commercial fabric stiffener, squeeze out excess. Stretch flat to dry on a waxed paper covered surface.
Remove metal hanger from top of crystal prism and thread a length of 1/8" ribbon through (I have found that a size 12 crochet hook fits perfectly through this hole and will pierce your ribbon and bring it back through the hole with minimal fraying). Tie in a knot and trim ends neatly.
With pipe cleaner, bend in half, twist about 3/4" from folded end twice. Spread into circle (this is your halo). With flat side of the head of the prism away from you, place halo on the back of the head (stick the ribbon tie through the halo to hold things into place), separate ends of the pipe cleaner and wrap around hardware below the crystal head in opposite directions.
After the wings have dried, glue them to the back of the angel centered on the pipe cleaner. Attach a small bow with 1/4" ribbon to the front with hot glue.
Beautiful, I love how you take something I have done and made it your own. Your work is impeccable.
